WHAT IS IDOP?

WHAT IS IDOP?

peshawar-coffinsThe International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) is being marked on Sunday 20 November.

On that day, churches all over Ireland will devote time during their worship services to pray for Christians living in Pakistan. Church in Chains is providing three resources to help churches mark the day: a bookmark with prayer points for every person in church, an Information Sheet for those who are leading prayers and a two minute PowerPoint presentation.

Lord of the nations,

We bring before You the nation of Pakistan and ask for Your blessing upon its people.

We are sad to hear reports of the persecution of Christians in Pakistan and ask for protection on Your people throughout the nation. We pray for those suffering from injuries sustained in terrorist attacks, for those who mourn the loss of loved ones and for those who live in fear.

We also pray for those who have become innocent victims of Pakistan’s blasphemy laws. We pray that these laws will be reformed to end their misuse.

We pray for the fostering of good relations between Muslims and Christians and that peace will come to Pakistan.

In the name of the Lord Jesus,

Amen

HOW CAN MY CHURCH GET INVOLVED?

Talk to your church leader as soon as possible and ask him/her if prayer for Pakistan can be incorporated into your church meeting on that day. Churches all over Ireland – in , Dublin, Galway, Kildare, Mayo, Roscommon, Wexford and many other places – will be joining in prayer for the persecuted on that day.
